How much gear do d1 athletes get? Well, it really depends on the school that you attend and what level of division one that you play at.

High major schools in the power 5 conferences will get more gear compared to lower level D1 schools. It also depends on how good your endorsement deal is.

Oregon, Michigan, UNC, and Army have awesome deals with Nike that allow their schools to have much better and more gear compared to other Nike schools.

Major Brands

The major brands that schools are endorsed by consist of Nike, Under Armour, Adidas, Russell, Puma, Reebok, Jordan, and even New Balance.

Type of Gear

D1 athletes will receive any and every type of gear you can possibly think of.

This includes socks, shoes, compression pants, shorts, joggers, sweatpants, undershirts, t-shirts, long-sleeve shirts, polos, rain jackets, sweatshirts, coats, beanies, hats, and any other accessories related to the sport you play.

Game Day Selection

For games, the equipment managers will have separate straps that you can customize yourself.

It will consist of the all the gear you want to wear for that particular matchup that corresponds with the uniform.

For home games, you might have more of the primary colors picked out. On the road, you might wear more white-colored accessories.

This is all customizable based on your colors and jerseys.

Excess Amount

The amount of extra gear that the majority of college athletes receive is mind-blowing. You will constantly find yourself giving it away to friends or family because you honestly don’t need all of it.

For example, you might receive two coats every year for the winter. By your senior year that would be a total of 8 coats.

Most people don’t want to have 8 different coats taking up space in their closet. So they end up giving away most of them and keeping 2 or 3 of their favorite or warmest.

As a division one college athlete your locker and closet will be overflowing with excess school apparel.

My Experience:

Having played Division 1 basketball at Boston University, I remember getting a lot of gear.

It wasn’t as much as the high major schools, but it was certainly overflowing in my closet.

We were sponsored by Under Armour, which was just ok for basketball.

I wasn’t a huge fans of the shoes, but all the other gear (especially coats/joggers/hoodies) was pretty elite.

My brothers were always excited when I came home because that meant new gear for them.

Conclusion: How Much Gear Do D1 Athletes Get

Being a D1 athlete comes with a multitude of benefits. One of them is the excess amount of gear that you will receive.
