I know lots of people who went on to play division 3 sports at some of the top universities in the country and did so at a fraction of the cost.
So in a way, D3 sports do have scholarships they just don’t classify them that way. A lot of this depends on your grades and the financial status of your parents as well.

To be honest, I do not see athletic scholarships being offered at the division 3 level any time in the near future. They take pride in the balance they can offer.
D3 schools often have the best academics in the country which comes with a hefty tuition price. It would not be in these schools best interest to give up that money for athletes as the class sizes at most of these Universities is smaller.
Funding can sometimes be a problem due to the fact many D3 institutions are privately owned, not state run. It seems as if D3 schools will continue to offer nice financial packages for their athletes, but will not give in to giving full athletic scholarships.

Playing a sport at any level of college is a huge accomplishment.
If you have the opportunity to play for a school that competes at the NCAA Division 3 level you should seriously consider it. Never burn any bridges during the recruiting process and understand all the benefits at Division 3 school can offer you and your family.

The information you are giving is not accurate. My daughter was accepted at Johns Hopkins University an NCAA Division 3 school and she was accepted on the volleyball team. She went throughout her entire high school time taking all advanced classes and received all A’s. JHU does not give scholarships for high academic achievement. Financial aid is only given to folks you are really financially stressed. We were given 11,000 dollars in aid and we are responsible for 78,000 dollars per year. Not really fare since this volleyball team will certainly help JHU’s financial bottom line seeing as how they won the NCAA Division 3 title for women’s volleyball last year. These women were as challenged as Stamford both academically and athletically. The only difference was travel. I feel all student athletes should be compensated for their time with athletic scholarships.
